S.T.E.A.M. is all about knowing about the world around you and using that knowledge to solve problems.
During this time of forced seclusion it is a perfect time to put your problem solving genes to the test. Here are some suggestions.
Roll the Dice: Role 2 dice and add the numbers. Look in your recycle bin and collect the number of things you rolled. Use what you collect to build something new, a tower, a sculpture, a car, a scene, etc. Let your imagination run wild.
What is It?: Look in your recycle bin. Find something in it and take it out. You know what it was; a box, a jar, a bottle. What is it now. Think up a long list of as many things you think this thing could become. Look through your list. Choose the idea you like the best. Now Make it!
Old School: Build a fort! Kids have been using chairs, blankets and pillows to build forts for decades. Go for it! Build it big enough for everyone and play games inside.
Game anyone?: Use materials around your home to create a new game.

- Think up an objective. What do the players try to do; reach a line, hit a target, find an object.
- Decide on the rules. What can the players do and not do to reach the goal?
- Make your game. What do you need for the players to play? You won't figure it all out in the first try so if some part of your game doesn't work, make changes. You can do that. It IS your game.
